After a solid start I found myself riding with the leaders from the start and as they dropped off I continued at the front, chasing the lone leader. My bike felt solid on the icy descent and I barely slid at all barreling around the slick corner that followed. I led the final lap, and was gaining on the girl in first, fighting for the State Championship vest, certain that the girl behind me wouldn't catch me, but around the final corner I heard the announcer's excitement for a sprint finish, so I tried my best to channel my inner Peter Sagan, but I couldn't match her acceleration."  [![Emily Zinn Colorado State Championship podium](https://blog.zinn.bike/hs-fs/hubfs/Imported_Blog_Media/1468803_699663396724754_959079598_n.jpg?width=300&height=225&name=1468803_699663396724754_959079598_n.jpg)](https://blog.zinn.bike/hubfs/Imported_Blog_Media/1468803_699663396724754_959079598_n-1.jpg) \[/fusion\_text\]\[/fusion\_builder\_column\]\[/fusion\_builder\_row\]\[/fusion\_builder\_container\] [Castle Rock](https://blog.zinn.bike/tag/castle-rock), [Team Zinn](https://blog.zinn.bike/tag/team-zinn), [Cyclocross](https://blog.zinn.bike/tag/cyclocross), [Colorado State Championships](https://blog.zinn.bike/tag/colorado-state-championships), [Snow](https://blog.zinn.bike/tag/snow), [boulder cyclocross](https://blog.zinn.bike/tag/boulder-cyclocross), [emily zinn](https://blog.zinn.bike/tag/emily-zinn), [Ride Reports](https://blog.zinn.bike/tag/ride-reports), [zinn cyclocross bike](https://blog.zinn.bike/tag/zinn-cyclocross-bike), [custom cyclocross bicycle](https://blog.zinn.bike/tag/custom-cyclocross-bicycle) ZI ##### Written by zinn\_dev ## Related articles [View all blogs](https://blog.zinn.bike/) ### [![Plus-Size Cycling Clothing: Finding a Kit That Fits](https://blog.zinn.bike/hubfs/plus-size-cycling-clothing.webp) Plus-Size Cycling Clothing: Finding a ...
